Depending on the medical research of others
AverageJoes believes the key to wellness is knowledge. For this reason, the information on this site is free. Since AnAverageJoes doesn’t have access to million of dollars of medical research equipment or thousands of patients to experiment upon, AnAverageJoes must rely on the health research of others. AnAverageJoes uses many public sources of health information, but two standout: “The Plant Paradox by Dr Steven Gundry” and “The Obesity Code. by Dr Jason Fung.” In AverageJoes opinion these are ground breaking books on health.
Books
The Obesity Code by Dr Jason Fung.
Must read. Dr Fung is leading the charge in Canada on hormones being the cause of obesity.
Tripping over the Truth by Travis Christofferon
Detailed study on metabolic theory of cancer versus the somatic mutation theory of cancer. The book is easy to read and well written, it is a must read for anyone who has cancer or has a family genetic history of the disease. Given that chemotherapy drugs are a $150B per year industry, this book is controversial. The book shows significant improvement to cancer treatments outcomes through the use of drugs like 3BP, a keto diet and hyperbolic oxygen therapy. All of which can be delivered for a few dollars per day. The premise of the book is that even with genome mapping, the how and why cancer occurs is still an unknown. Thus, making targeted drugs for all of the different cancers which can mutate even within a single patient next to impossible. Yet, all cancers have a common achilles heel, they have to eat…a lot! It is well proven fact that cancer cells have damaged mitochondria (the energy engine of a cell) that can only process glucose through fermentation not oxidization. BTW fermentation is 18 times less efficient than oxidization. Cancer’s affinity for glucose is how a PET scan used to detect cancer works. In simple terms, cancer loves sugar and due to rapid cell growth needs lots of it. Your body’s healthy cells can run on glucose or ketones. Cancer cells due to damaged mitochondria can only run on glucose! Ketones which is energy derived from “fat cells”are produced during a fast (ketosis) or a LCHF diet.
From the first law of thermodynamics, cut out the sugars and cancer cells will have a lot less to eat. Can cancer be cured by diet alone. No! But tumour growth can be significantly slowed down. Studies have shown that fasting (feed your cells only ketones in lieu of glucose) can dramatically improve all chemo therapy outcomes. Fasting causes cancer cells to die off quicker; healthy cells to become stronger and hence are better able to within the rigors of the chemo toxic chemicals.
The Secrets of Underground Medicine by Health Sense Publishing
Very good book on non-traditional approaches to medicine and especially cancer. However, it needs to be edited better. Book could be half the length due to repetition.
The Plant Paradox by Dr Steven R Gundry
Must read, just might be the most important book to sustainable good health ever published. The book is somewhat controversial as few doctors understand how lectins impact the human body. Dr Gundry is often the target of debunkers. Some of the debunking appears to be well deserved as he often gives mixed messages during interviews. His website has limited information but is full of very expensive supplements.
Dr Eric Berg – Numerous books and youtube pod casts
The four hour body by Tim Ferriss.
Guyton and Hall Textbook of Medical Physicology
29 years in the health business, lots of great information. So many outstanding videos. (hundreds) Easy to understand, huge subject material. Variety of videos is both a strength and weakness, so much information, it’s easy to get lost.
The first 5 or 6 chapters are of interest, the remainder not so much.
One of the best selling medical physiology textbooks in the world.
